Cancellation of the Ministry of Education’s student meal subsidy

Dear students,

we would like to inform you that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has changed the way student dining is supported. The existing subsidy intended directly to reduce meal prices in university canteens (indicator J) has been transferred to the general budget of higher education institutions (indicator A). In the future, the support should be more focused on students in disadvantaged social or economic situations, for example in the form of scholarships.

The management of the Czech Technical University in Prague responds as follows:

  • in April, a discount of CZK 20,5 will be introduced for only one meal per day,
  • discounts on baguettes, breakfasts, and soups will be discontinued,
  • two budget-friendly meals will be newly added to the menu,
  • meal subsidies for non-students of CTU will be abolished.

Further steps will be discussed by the university management after receiving the methodology from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which is expected in mid-April.

The dining questionnaire remains open, and you can continue to fill it in.
